CARNIVAL IN ANDORRA:
| For Carnival
people disguise, go on the street, and have fun. Parents
buy or make costumes for their children. Some villages
give chocolate and "coca" (a sort of cake). For Carnival, people are happy and walk on the streets. There are a lot of parades which fill the streets. The Tourist Information Offices organise parades with the schools of Andorra, and small theatre companies |

. The Andorrans go to bed late, that's why, dancing parties start at 11p.m, they organize a barbecue before starting the parties. Carnival happens during the skiing season, that's why, we can often see people skiing with funny coloured caps, and the most daring people wear carnival costumes on the skiing slopes.
The hotels are full because they have skiers and tourists who come from Spain, France, England and the other countries.
Encamp
There is a festival called: "l'operaciķ de sa majestat Carnestoltes".We dance, after there is a theatre play acted by the people of the village where people tear into pieces the dummy of carnaval which has been filled with real pieces of animal lungs, hearts, stomachs, lamb ribs and pork chops. They throw the bloody pieces at the people. There is also "el ball de l'ossa ", with a man diguised into a bear.
Masks of before
The town of Escaldes had a special custom: The Harlequin : only a man could wear this costume, it consists of white clothes and they sew pieces of black material on them. The hat was high and pointed like the Italian harlequin's . Women dressed up as "seņoras" with a long skirt, a hat and a black lace apron.
